Crony capitalism has this (extreme) peculiarity of uniting diverse political factions around a common project: self-interest at the expense of the common good. This cognitive bias materializes within the framework of neoliberal ideology, where public choices are precisely conditioned on the political interests of those who profit from them (that is, all parties). This represents an economic/social/societal authoritarianism versus the democratic concept.
